Carlos Monclus, a longtime resident of Hazleton and owner of a successful restaurant, announced today his candidacy for City Council. As a small business owner, Carlos understands the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Hazleton.

He believes that his experience in the restaurant industry has prepared him well for the rigors of public service, and he is eager to bring his entrepreneurial spirit and practical problem-solving skills to the City Council. “I am proud to be a small business owner in Hazleton, and I am committed to making our city a better place to live and work,” said Carlos Monclus. “I know our city faces many challenges, but I believe that by working together, we can create a better future for our community.”

Carlos is passionate about issues such as economic development, public safety, the lack of representation of a segment of the community on the City Council, and community involvement.

He believes that by promoting inclusion, involving young people in action, promoting the growth of small businesses, and creating job opportunities, Hazleton can become a more prosperous and vibrant city. “I have always been interested in social work and promoting the development of our city. Together, we can face the different challenges that arise, and I am confident that by working together, we will be successful in solving those problems.”

He also recognizes the importance of public safety and will work to ensure that all residents feel safe in their neighborhoods. Additionally, Carlos is committed to engaging with the community and ensuring that all residents have a voice in local government. He plans to hold regular meetings at City Hall and listen to the concerns and ideas of his constituents.

Carlos is the founder and owner of Yaroas’ LLC, a business idea established over 10 years ago. He has lived in Hazleton for 14 years and graduated in Business Administration from O&M University in Santo Domingo.

He was vice president of the Hazleton Hispanic Business Society (SEHH) in 2017 and a member of the Democratic Party Board in 2020. Carlos created the United Volunteer Group in 2020 to help Hazleton families during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been on the volunteer elections board since then.
